In a press conference held yesterday in Tokyo, the ace of Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling, Miyu Yamashita, announced that she will be leaving Japan after the March 31st event in Los Angeles and will be based in the United States for about three months. Yamashita explained her desire to work overseas has been a long-standing goal, and after talking to the company, the time had come to seize the opportunity.
"I had this strong urge to work abroad even before the pandemic," Yamashita stated. "As things began to settle down, I started to go on more overseas expeditions, and I began to imagine myself actually staying in the United States."
With her first match in Japan scheduled for June 25th at Fukuoka's Nishitetsu Hall, Yamashita expressed her uncertainty about what her future holds beyond her US stint, saying, "I may not even return alive. Of course, I want to come back alive, but I cannot be sure. I am not sure what the future holds. It all depends on what happens during these three months."
On March 18th, at Ariake Coliseum, Yamashita will be facing the monstrous tag team of Wasteland War Party with her partner Ito as the tag team "121000000". If the team defends the Princess Tag Team Championship on February 25th, the match at Ariake will become a title match. Yamashita, a fierce competitor, exclaimed, "If Ariake becomes a title match, I will take the belt."
In regards to her plans beyond the title match, Yamashita revealed that she has already received multiple offers from various organizations for April and will be handling her bookings directly. She expressed her desire to wrestle in many different places and with different opponents during her three-month stay in the US, and if successful in defending the British EVE Championship, she would be willing to defend the title by crossing from the United States to the United Kingdom.
Yamashita seems to have brushed off any concerns about language barriers or other potential issues during her time in the US, stating, "I'm not worried at all. I'm more worried about enjoying myself too much." We love her carefree attitude and can't wait to see what she gets up to in the U.S.
There you have it, folks, the latest news from Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling. We're so excited to see our girl Yamashita take on new challenges and conquer the wrestling world overseas. Let's go, Miyu!
